This castle rises south of Benamejí, on the right bank of the Genil river, dominating the old road from Córdoba to Málaga. It enjoyed an excellent strategic situation, monitoring the passage of that path. Today only the remains of a large canvas with a square tower, made of masonry courses, are preserved. Inside the enclosure there are underground chambers with concrete walls and open on the ground by semicircular arches made of brick and half-ruined, possibly corresponding to the cistern of the fortification. In addition to the remains of the Castle, Iberian and Roman remain are located.
